There were some names in the Hindi film music of India who remained behind the scenes despite being very important reasons for the immortality and timelessness of film music.

Hundreds of such songs by lyricist Shailendra, we all live every day without realizing how many times we listen to them on the radio, how many times we find our emotions in the words of those songs. Ramya Vasta Vaiya, Har Dil Jo Pyar Karega, Ye Raat Bheegi Bheegi, Piya Tose Naina Laage Re, if these songs make you feel naturally in love, then Zindagi Khwaab Hai, makes one realize the true nature of life. Shailendra’s pen made a easy crossover between a lover and a person who is going through the daily grind of life.

Another such prodigious musician was Salil Chowdhury or our very own Salil Da. The great sitar player who, on one hand, gave us songs like O Sajna Barkha Bahar Aayi, Na Jiya Lage Na, Na Jaane Kyun Hota Hai Ye Zindagi Ke Saath, Rajnigandha Phool Tumhare in the color of love, on the other hand, gave us songs like Zindagi Kaisi Hai Pehli Hai, Zindagi Khwaab Hai, Chota Sa Ghar Hoga which were soothing and encapsulated the philosophy of life.

Allahabad Music Club is going to pay a musical tribute to these two great personalities, Shailendra and Salil Chowdhury, in its 12th annual music festival for the music lovers of Prayagraj. September 21, 2025, Sunday from 6 pm onwards at the Auditorium of North Central Cultural Centre (NCZCC). Gracing the event would be our following esteemed guests,

Ms. Amala Majumdar, daughter of Shailendra, is a writer and currently lives in Dubai.

Shri Sanjay Chowdhury, son of Salil Chowdhury, is a strong signature as a music director in the Bengali film music world, and lives in Kolkata.

Shri Yunus Khan, a well-known voice of  Vividh Bharati, a writer of high caliber and an Indian film historian, and lives in Mumbai

Ms. Archana Chauhan, a well-known announcer of Vividh Bharati Bhuj, a writer and social thinker.

Along with our distinguished guests, on the evening of 21st September 2025, we all will sit together and remember the magician of the pen, Shailendra Ji and the king of the combination of notes, Salil Da.
